Grand Prix Rules
Chess Adventures Grand Prix Rules 1) Each game won is worth one point toward your Grand Prix score. (Byes do not count) 2) Each game drawn is worth ½ point (Byes do not count) 3) The ending point total of the tournament will be added to your prior total to determine your Grand Prix score. 4) Points will be added up at the end of the year to determine the winner. Your top five scores will be counted. So a bad tournament or a missed tournament will not put you out of contention. 5) Trophies will be given to the winner of each of the four sections: K-12, K-8, K-5 and K-3. 6) An additional trophy will be given to the top overall team. That score will be computed by adding the individual scores of the top four scorers from your school in any section. In other words, there could be one from each section that counts toward your school score. 7) Unrated section does not count toward Grand Prix 8) If sections are combined, top player from what would have been the lower section wins the day's medal. Grand Prix points are calculated as if they had played in their own section. 9) Grand Prix standings will be updated by the Wednesday following each tourney. They will be available at www.chessadventures.com 10) Awards ceremony will be immediately after the final event of the school year.
